About the Client

The client is a D2C wellness and supplement brand operating in a highly competitive health and fitness category. The brand offers wellness products across multiple categories and depends heavily on organic search visibility for product discovery, category-led traffic, and revenue growth.

The challenge was not just to improve rankings, but to rebuild the website’s search foundation after technical issues, weak content depth, and a manual penalty affected performance.

The Challenge

The brand had strong product potential, but the website had multiple SEO and technical roadblocks that were restricting organic growth.

Key Problems We Identified

1 Manual penalty in Google Search Console

The website had received a manual action due to unnatural inbound links. This directly impacted search trust and visibility.

2 Page speed issues

Large banners, unoptimized images, and unnecessary scripts were slowing down the website, especially on mobile.

3 Missing and weak meta tags

Product, blog, and collection pages lacked proper meta titles and descriptions, reducing relevance and CTR potential.

4 Poorly optimized product and collection pages

Important revenue-driving pages had weak content, poor keyword targeting, and limited internal linking.

5 Incorrect blog URL structure

Blog URLs were not structured properly, which affected crawlability and SEO clarity.

6 Missing schema implementation

The website had no strong structured data layer, limiting its chances of enhanced visibility in SERPs.

7 Conversion-related glitches

Buy Now and Add to Cart buttons had functionality issues, affecting the user journey and conversion experience.

8 Limited AI and LLM visibility

The brand had limited discoverability across AI-led search journeys, including AI Overviews and LLM-driven discovery sources.

The Opositive Approach

Opositive built a recovery-first and growth-first SEO strategy.

The priority was to first clean up the foundation, resolve the penalty, fix technical and on-page issues, and then scale visibility through content, backlinks, structured data, and AI-search readiness.

The strategy focused on four major goals:

1 Recover from the manual penalty and restore search trust.
2 Improve technical SEO, page speed, crawlability, and indexing.
3 Strengthen product, collection, and blog visibility through content and keyword optimization.
4 Build long-term authority through backlinks, schema, internal linking, and AI search optimization.

What We Did

1 Resolved the Manual Penalty

Opositive conducted a detailed root cause analysis of the manual action.

The team reviewed the backlink profile, identified toxic and unnatural inbound links, removed harmful links where possible, aligned the recovery work with Google’s quality guidelines, and prepared a detailed plan of action.

The manual penalty was successfully removed on 19 September 2025.

2 Fixed Technical SEO Issues

A detailed technical SEO audit was conducted to identify crawlability, indexing, URL structure, page performance, and schema gaps.

The fixes included:

  • Correcting blog URL structures
  • Improving crawlability
  • Resolving major technical errors
  • Fixing image visibility issues
  • Adding missing alt tags
  • Improving page performance
  • Strengthening indexing signals
3 Improved Page Speed and Core Performance

The website’s performance was improved by optimizing heavy visual elements and removing unnecessary load issues.

This included:

  • Compressing images
  • Reducing homepage banner weight
  • Removing unused scripts
  • Improving mobile and desktop speed
  • Enhancing overall user experience
4 Optimized Product and Collection Pages

Product and collection pages were re-optimized with stronger keyword targeting, improved content depth, and better internal linking.

This helped important business pages become more relevant for commercial and category-led search queries.

The work included:

  • Meta title optimization
  • Meta description optimization
  • Keyword-focused content additions
  • Internal linking improvements
  • Collection page content upgrades
  • Product-level SEO improvements
5 Built a Stronger Content Strategy

Opositive identified low-difficulty and high-potential blog topics to improve discoverability.

The team prepared content structures, optimized keyword placement, and focused on long-tail search queries that could support both traditional SEO and AI Overview visibility.

6 Implemented Structured Data

Schema was added across key page types to help search engines better understand the website.

The structured data layer included:

  • Product schema
  • Breadcrumb schema
  • Website schema
  • FAQ schema

This helped improve search clarity, SERP appearance, and CTR potential.

7 Strengthened Authority Through Backlinks

The website’s authority was improved through contextual, high-quality backlinks and consistent off-page work.

Referring domains increased from 593 to 646, showing a steady improvement in authority signals.

8 Improved AI Overview and LLM Visibility

Opositive also worked on improving the brand’s visibility across AI-led search journeys.

This was supported by stronger blog publishing, long-tail keyword targeting, structured data, content optimization, and improved topical authority.

The Results

The campaign helped the brand recover from a major search trust issue and build strong organic momentum across traffic, rankings, AI Overview keywords, and LLM-driven sessions.

AI Search Impact

The Big Win

Manual Penalty Removed + 401.55% Growth in Impressions

The biggest achievement was not just growth — it was recovery with scale.

Opositive helped the brand successfully recover from a Google manual penalty and then improved organic visibility significantly, with impressions increasing from 1.20M to 6.01M when comparing the initial month with the recent month.

At the same time, AI Overview keywords grew from 474 to 1,184, showing that the brand was not only improving on Google Search but also becoming more visible across AI-led discovery journeys.

Our Learning

For D2C wellness brands, SEO growth is not only about publishing blogs or adding keywords. If the foundation is weak, search visibility will always remain unstable.

This case proved that when penalty recovery, technical SEO, content optimization, page speed, schema, backlinks, and AI search readiness work together, a brand can move from recovery mode to scalable organic growth.
